In module 3 of my Technology class, we were given a variety of subjects to choose to research and create a Voice Thread on. I chose to research Game Based Learning. As I have mentioned previously, I love everything about technology and I love games, so this was a perfect match! I have a lot of behavior problems in my school and when we did the Hour of Code in December for K-5, it was like a whole new group of kids! To watch them problem solve and laugh and joke with their friends instead of fighting was heart warming!
So, what is Game Based Learning? Game based learning is the process of using game-driven approaches in the classroom. Many experts believe that games nurture the higher-order thinking skills kids will need in their futures, including the ability to analyze and solve problems using media resources. What a better resource to use in your classroom than something that not only teaches kids 21st century skills, but is also highly engaging!
